Artist Statement
My Philosophy as a Dance Artist
I believe that commitment, positivity, and professionalism work together to create a safe and educational environment where dedicated dancers of all backgrounds can learn and enjoy the art of dance. My goal is to instill both emotional and physical connections between dancers through movement, crafting meaningful works with themes that resonate with them. In doing so, I strive to inspire both performers and audiences alike.
My choreography is deeply rooted in ballet, contemporary, lyrical, floor work, partnering, and the power of stillness. I believe that these elements allow audiences to see dancers for who they truly are, as they perform movements that best highlight their individual artistic voices. By blending different movement forms, I create opportunities for dancers to showcase their strengths while expanding their artistic boundaries. More than just technical execution, my work fosters meaningful connections within a community of dancers who are discovering their personal and professional paths.
Dance as an Expression of Faith
As a Christian, my faith is at the heart of my approach to both choreography and teaching. I believe that dance is a gift from God—one that allows us to express emotion, tell stories, and connect with something greater than ourselves. In my teaching, I strive to cultivate an environment where dancers feel supported, valued, and encouraged to use their talents with purpose. Just as faith calls us to uplift others, I aim to instill a spirit of encouragement and perseverance in my students.
I see dance as a form of worship and a way to express gratitude for the abilities we have been given. Through movement, we can convey emotions that words often fail to express, offering joy, healing, and reflection. Whether choreographing or teaching, I emphasize the importance of dancing with intention—bringing light and inspiration to both the performer and the audience.
Creating a Healthy and Positive Dance Environment
The dance industry is shifting toward a model that prioritizes positivity, health, and professionalism. I am committed to upholding these values by providing technical, musical, and artistic training in a way that nurtures both the dancer’s skill and well-being. I encourage dancers to approach their training with discipline, respect, and a mindset of continuous growth. My classes are designed to be not only a place of learning but also a refuge—an opportunity for dancers to breathe, release stress, and find joy in the art form.
By intertwining movement with meaning, technique with artistry, and faith with passion, I strive to inspire dancers to pursue their craft with purpose. My hope is that through dance, they not only develop their skills but also discover a deeper sense of self, community, and faith.
